Take Profit and Stop Loss are crucial aspects of futures trading. However, during usage, certain anomalies may occur. Below are some common reasons why TP/SL orders may fail to trigger.
- Trigger Price Not Reached:Trigger Price: The price condition set for activation.Order Price: The execution price once triggered.Note: The trigger price significantly impacts order execution. Currently, TP/SL orders support Last Price, Mark Price, or Index Price as trigger conditions—these prices are not always equal. Please ensure that your trigger price meets your expectations and is set according to your plan.An order will only be generated when the Market Price (which could be the Mark Price or Last Price or Index Price, depending on the condition you choose) reaches your trigger value. If the Market price does not reach the set trigger value, the order will not be activated. In other words, TP/SL orders will only be effective when these prices (Last price, Mark price, or Index price) reach your set values.
- Incorrect Trigger Price Type Selected:Some platforms default to using the Mark Price as the trigger condition instead of the "Last Price." It is possible that the actual filled price has already reached the trigger level, but the mark price has not reached it, so the TP/SL has not been triggered.
- Reduce-Only Order Failed Due to Better Price Orders Existing:This indicates that when the trigger occurred, there were already existing general orders with better prices than the current order.
- Reduce-Only Order Cannot Increase Position:This is because there is already an existing closing order in progress or the position no longer exists. Orders marked as "reduce-only" will only decrease the position and will not increase it. Therefore, if the position is no longer available or a closing order is already active, no new order will be placed.
- Insufficient Available Balance:One-Way Position Mode: Closing a position does not require margin. If a closing order already exists, placing another order will require margin. This typically occurs in one-way position mode when placing a reverse order in the order section. Since both closing a position after an existing position (i.e., a closing order based on the current position) and two-way position orders with the "reduce-only" attribute behave differently, this situation will not occur.
